Mount Lemmon, located in Tucson, Arizona, offers one of the most spectacular cycling routes in the United States. The paved climb begins on the desert floor at 2,858 feet (871 meters) and ascends 27.8 miles (44.7 km) to the summit’s observatory at 9,134 feet (2,784 meters), making it one of the longest and most scenic paved climbs in the country. Along the way, riders experience an incredible shift in biodiversity, passing through multiple ecosystems—from towering saguaros in the Sonoran Desert to the cool, pine-covered forests of the Sky Islands. This dramatic elevation gain not only offers breathtaking views but also a refreshing temperature drop, often making the summit 20 to 30 degrees cooler than the base. Parking is available at Le Buzz Café, a popular meeting spot for cyclists, or near the first mile marker (MP0) for a convenient start to this unforgettable ride. Learn more on our FAQs page.
